12.10.12 16:23 Malaysian Fellowship Humanitarian Missions 2012

For the past 5 years, Malaysian Fellowship has been organizing mission trips to many different countries around South East Asia namely Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, India, China, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Laos and Russia too.

Founded in 2007, Malaysian Fellowship is a non-profit organization connecting medical students, healthcare professionals and volunteers for good and positive influence through the generous contribution of our time, talents and resources that will bring about amazing long-term transformations in Malaysia, Asia and beyond. Every year, medical students, especially those studying in Russia will apply to join the missions during the summer holidays. This year we had 12 students from Volgograd State Medical University that joined the missions. They were Chien Keat Leong, Lily Chong, Chan Jinn Shian, Chin Tsung Litt, Josephine Samson, Naveen Giftson, Wong Wai Hoe, Goh Zhong En, Chan Jun Win, Sathiyaraj Subramaniam, Ascend Star Jenson, Cynthia Chee, Johanan Lawrence and Jonah Seeni. We were all assigned to many different locations in South East Asia. What we do during missions:

We work to bring hope and change lives for the better and ultimately affect the transformation of communities by providing:

  1. Medical Mobile Clinics
We travel into villages to set up temporary clinics, giving free consultations and medications to the locals. This is the main focus of our work. We have our own hosts to coordinate with us for our daily mission works.
  2. Support for poverty stricken families
Where there is a need we help poor families to obtain basic necessities such as food, household items, toiletries, clothing and footwear.
  3. Improvement of sanitary conditions
We educate villagers on the importance of basic hygiene and sanitation for prevention of infectious diseases through health talks and other creative means.
  4. Medical and social support for orphans
We work to provide medical and social care according to their illnesses and showing them care and attention. We work to ensure orphans feel loved and accepted by those around them.
  5. Basic educational programs for children
We help children in their studies through tutoring and providing them with school supplies as well as putting an emphasis on the importance of education
  6. Initiate Community Development projects
We initiate projects such as reconstructing of  homes, building of schools and libraries, that will bring long term improvements to the local communities.

Over the past 4 years, Malaysian Fellowship has impacted the lives of close to 50, 000 people all across Asia and Russia. This year we have mobilized almost 1000 volunteers to a total of 13 countries.
