From 14 to 15 of December 2013 Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) organized one of the major education fairs in South-Eastern Asia “The Star Education Fair 2013” (http://www.thestar.com.my/EduFair/). The educational fair is annually held in Malaysia (since 1987) and enables advancement of educational services of more than 200 educational institutions. In 2013 Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre hosted “The Star Education Fair” (http://www.klccconventioncentre.com/).
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Malaysia, Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo in Malaysia (Russian Center of Science and Culture, Kuala Lumpur) and Malaysian educational agency “Russian Resources Sdn. Bhd.” were the providers of the joined Russian exhibition stand of Russian educational services for Malaysian young people.
The Russian education in Malaysia was represented by 7 Universities. Namely Volgograd State Medical University, Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov, Far Eastern Federal University, MGIMO participated in the fair.
A conference took place within the educational fair. There Mr. Teoh Seng Lee, Executive Director of “Russian Resources Sdn. Bhd.”, acquainted the participants with advantages of Russian education, as well as with prospects for cooperation with tertiary institutions of Russia.
Russian Center of Science and Culture occupied a special place at the educational fair. It offered participants study of the Russian Language within special courses at its base in Kuala Lumpur.
“The Star Education Fair 2013” provoked a huge interest of visitors. More than 40 000 people visited the fair within 2 days. The exhibition stand of Volgograd State Medical University visited about 60 Malaysian schoolchildren, which are interested in study at VSMU.
That international educational fair enabled participants to get acquainted with the most recent advances in education, up to date educational technologies, material and technical equipment, conditions of admission and study at different tertiary institutions of the world.
The representatives of VSMU took part in Celebration of the Russian Constitution Day in Malaysia on the 16th of December 2013 at “Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre”. The Embassy of Russia under the auspices of Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo in Malaysia organized a gala concert and state reception in honour of the 20th Anniversary of Constitution of the Russian Federation.
Famous pianists Kenneth The and Tomonari Tsuchiya played at that concert, and a popular international choir “Cantus Musicus” sang. Some music pieces of S. Rakhmaninov, P.Tchaikovsky and also some Russian folk song were presented to the audience.
The representatives of VSMU also visited Universiti Teknologi MARA, UiTM (http://www.uitm.edu.my/index.php/en). Within this visit the representatives met prof. Mahyunah Dato’ Masud, Vice-Dean, Faculty of Dentistry; prof. Nafeeza Mohd Ismail, Dean, Faculty of Medicine; Ms. Penelope Tan, Director, Department of International Affairs. Furthermore, the delegation visited Dentistry building, practical trainings in Dentistry, simulation centres for Resuscitation, Obstetrics and Pediatrics, Library, Anatomy building, computer lab.
At the present time 3000 students from Malaysia study in Russia. 300 of them are getting medical education at Volgograd State Medical University. |
