The 6th International Advanced ICAS Training Course on State-of-the-Art of Tooth-Coloured Adhesive Restorations
A limited number of grants will be available on a justified application to the ICAS secretariat
International Center for Advanced Studies in Health Sciences and Services (ICAS) affiliated to the University of Ulm in Germany will host the 6th International Advanced ICAS Training Course on State-of-the-Art of Tooth-Coloured Adhesive Restorations on 15-19 September, 2008.

This course will be held under the directorship of Professor Dr. Bernd Haller, Director of the Department of Operative Dentistry and Periodontology of the University of Ulm.
The aim of this comprehensive training course is to make academic dentistry teachers, postgraduate students and dentists familiar with the innovative concepts of bonded tooth-coloures posterior and esthetic anterior restoration. Participants will be able to make proper decisions with regard to case and material selection, cavity preparation and handling of materials. Special focus will be directed to step-by-step instruction and intensive hands-on training.

Session I
Fundamentals
  • Rationale for the use of adhesive tooth-coloured restoration
  • Current status of tooth-coloured restorative materials
  • Light-curing technology
  • Current status of enamel and dentin bonding
  • Pulpal considerations and pulp protection in adhesive restorations
Session II
Posterior Direct Resin Composite Restorations
  • Replacement of defective restorations class 1 and II
  • Special matrix and layering techniques for adequate proximal contour and contacts
  • Early caries diagnosis and minimal invasive treatment concepts
Session III
  • Fundamental of dental aesthetics
  • Materials and instruments
  • Direct composite veneers
  • Class IV restorations
  • Restorations of servical defects
  • Closure of diastema and black triangles
  • Ceramic veneers
Session IV
  • Direct and indirect composite inlays/onlays
  • Ceramic inlays/onlays
  • Ceramic and composite bonding
  • Cavity preparation
  • Luting procedures step-by-step
